The Presbyterian Relief Services and Development (PRESED) is a registered non-profit organization of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana through which the Church assists rural communities in leadership development; builds capacity for disaster preparedness and management; empowers women and youth in achieving sustainable income, promotes Vocational and Technical Education and training, among others. These are geared towards contributing to Ghana’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Using our capabilities at regional and local levels, we have embarked on wide range of activities including community based disaster risk management work (CBDRM), employable skills training, Sexual Reproductive Health Right, HIV and AIDS prevention, community water systems, provision of teaching and learning materials to deprived schools amongst others.
We value the importance of putting people first. We focus our programmatic areas in the grassroots and local community groups as well as national and regional levels.
PRESED works to amplify the voices of people most at risk, the poor and vulnerable and to influence policies and practices at national, regional and local levels. We build our capacities by creating knowledge, and through collaborative learning and action. Stakeholder’s involvement and participatory approach in program delivery have taught us an essential lesson, where the people easily adapt to change when they have full trust and confidence that their opinions are considered. As more civil society organizations learn about PRESED, and the benefits of contributing to alleviating the plight of the poor and the needy in society, demand for our services continue to increase.
Meeting beneficiaries demand remains an ongoing challenge and securing further resources is an ongoing priority. Continuing to enhance our connection to the underserved at especially the local level still remains our topmost priority.
PRESED exists to promote Disaster Resilience, Economic justice, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene activities by working with willing partners and deprived communities. We empower the vulnerable populations such as children, youth, women, and persons living with disabilities to reduce poverty and enhance social and environmental well-being.
For all of God’s creation to attain fullness of life.
The aim of the organization is to exemplify Gods love for all people by facilitating the creation of a peaceful, healthy and self-sustaining community that promotes development.
PRS&D seeks to empower the poor and vulnerable mostly the youth and women to undertake viable income generating activities to raise their income levels and improve the overall social, spiritual and economic well-being of all people in society.
